Around 8 in the morning, you will depart from your accommodation in Marrakesh to start your outdoor adventure. In Imin Oughlad, you will meet your Berber hiking guide and load your luggage onto a mule. From here, we set off on a small path leading you through a forest of Jupiter trees and holm oaks to the collar of Tizi n Tachte. At an altitude of 2000 meters, you will enjoy the views of the Azzaden valleys before descending. Time for a lunch picnic and a well-deserved rest. After the mountain tajine, we continue our way. Crossing serval Berber villages, we arrive in Tizi Oussem, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a traditional house.
Today you will wake up with a real Berber breakfast, including homemade bread, olive oil, and some Moroccan tea. After, we start hiking with a small path that climbs to the mountain called Tizi Mzik, at a 2400-meter altitude. Here you will have a great view of the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains. After lunch, we descend to the village Imlil, a place attracting many trekkers that will submit Mount Toubkal. We will spend the night here in a cottage. After the 5 hours of hiking today, you will still have some energy left to explore the little village and mingle with its inhabitants.
Today we’ll walk along with other hikers that will try and summit Mount Toubkal. We, however, have another destination: the Marabou called Sidi Chamharouch, an old mosque high up in the mountains. Local people come here daily to offer animals for healing health problems, exorcising spirits, or wishing good luck.
After this, we picnic for lunch under the 100-year-old walnut trees. After enjoying some last panoramic views of the highest peaks in the Atlas Mountains, we will return to Imlil, where the vehicle is waiting to ring you back to Marrakesh.
