One of our favourite trails leads you through Morocco’s Atlas Mountain valleys. Starting from Ouirgane in the Azzaden Valley, it wends through captivating landscapes and Berber villages. The 2-day imlil trek ends in Imlil. This is the trailhead for the many hikers wishing to summit Mount Toubkal. The peak is famous for being the highest mountain in North Africa. Our trail, however, follows quieter trails with fewer steep climbs, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
We begin with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech. On arrival in Ouirgane, you will meet your local Berber guide. He will accompany you and take care of all the logistics during the imlil trek. You will also meet your muleteer and the trusty mule that will carry your main bags!
Later, we will explore traditional Berber villages and stop at scenic spots like the Ighouliden Waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains, before reaching our final destination in the Imlil Valley. Your guide will adjust the pace to your needs so that you have plenty of time to savor the spectacular views during the imlil trek.
Our 2-day valley trek to imlil ends with your return to Marrakech, once again by private taxi. It is an excellent way to explore Morocco’s breathtaking Atlas Mountains and get a glimpse into traditional Berber culture.

Please note: it is possible to start this trek from Imlil and finish in Ouirgane. It can also be combined with one of our popular Mount Toubkal ascents in the Atlas Mountains. Additionally, you can extend your time in the valleys by booking one of our longer valley routes.
Itinerary
A taxi will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakesh and bring you to the village of Ouirgane, the starting point of this trekking. From here, we enter the Toubkal National Park, passing beautiful gardens, agriculture terraces, and walnut trees.
After a lunch picnic in which we will prepare you a tajine, we will continue our hike to Tizi Oussem. It’s an intermediate climb to our destination of this day. After arriving, there will be enough time to explore the village before having dinner and spending the night in a Berber house.
After breakfast with homemade bread, we leave the Berber village and steadily climb to Tizi Mzik. From there, we descend to village Imlil, our final hike destination. We will arrive here after 5 to 6 hours of hiking. In Imlil, we will meet with the driver that will bring you back to your accommodation in
Marrakesh.
