Day 1 :

Marrakech – Imlil 1740m – Toubkal Refuge 3207m.

Our trek starts in the early morning. First , you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Marrakesh. Then , a private taxi will drive you to the village of Imlil. Upon arrival , you will meet your team, who will accompany you during this amazing trek.

Shortly after , within 30 minutes, you will start your walk. To begin with , one of our experienced local mountain guides will lead you. As you progress , you’ll pass through the Berber villages of Toubkal National Park. We will follow a mule track, which will take you and your group past the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2500m). At this location , we will enjoy a picnic lunch.

Following lunch , we will continue hiking. Our destination is the mountain refuge at 3200m. This is where we will spend the night. Meanwhile , you can relax and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Lunch + Dinner

Day 2 :

Refuge 3207m – Toubkal summit 4167m – refuge 3207m – Imlil 1740m – Marrakech

The next day is summit day. Consequently , you need to get up very early. Breakfast will be served before we start the ascent. The climb begins step by step. Gradually , we will reach the point above the hut. At this stage , you will have a short break.

Afterward , we continue walking uphill for 2 or 3 hours. Eventually , you will reach the summit at 4,167 meters. From this vantage point , you will have a breathtaking view of the High Atlas Mountains. While there , you can take pictures and enjoy the view. Subsequently , we will start descending back to the refuge.

Once we arrive , lunch will be ready for you. After finishing lunch , we begin our descent to Imlil. Similarly , the route is the same as the one we took up. Finally , the driver will already be waiting. He will take you back to Marrakech.

What equipment should I bring?

Winter season (Nov – Mar)
Winter can be quite cold on Mt Toubkal, with temperatures on the summit going as low as -20°C. March starts to warm up with a higher chance of rain.

Early/late season (Apr-May & Oct)
Temperatures at lower altitudes can reach 26°C, with little chance of rain. The summit can still go as low as -10°C with wind chill.

Summer (Jun-Sep)
June has a higher chance of rain but still stays warm. July to Sept are the hottest months with temperatures at the lowest altitudes reaching 30°C. The summit of Toubkal can be as low as -10°C with wind chill

Can I consider myself sufficiently fit?

The summit day can be 9-10 hours (with lots of breaks) so you do need a good level of fitness. We recommend training with jogging or sports 1-2 times a week, in the run-up to your trip.

Do I need to carry all my stuff up the mountain?

The local guides utilize mules to transport your primary baggage, cooking equipment, and food are carried by the mule, leaving you to carry only a rucksack with whatever you need close at hand for the days.
NB: Left luggage or unnecessary luggage can be left safely in our storage in Imlil till you come back from the trek.

WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS ?

1st Night: The Accommodation will be in a Dorm at the Mountain hut. Camping is an option if preferred (June-Octo).

FOOD ON THE TREK?

The meals served during the trek are prepared by the Berber muleteers and consist of fresh and healthy ingredients. A typical breakfast may include jam, bread, cookies, fruit, juice, butter, coffee, and milk. For lunch, you can expect a salad, tomatoes, carrots, lentils, beans, rice or pasta, fish (sardines, tuna), and seasonal fruit. Dinner often includes soup, classic Moroccan tajine, couscous, olives, nuts, and fruit.

If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, don’t worry, we can cater to your needs. Just inform us of your requirements when you confirm your booking, and we will ensure that your meals are prepared accordingly. Additionally, please remind your guide and cook of any dietary requirements on the first day of the trek to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
